Smokey Bloody Maria

It’s no secret that Mexico is my spiritual home. The culture, the food and people all sing to my soul. They also sing VERY loudly the day after a night on the Margaritas, so what better way to cure the pain with, well a splash more Tequila?

While this recipe seems complex, I can assure you that each ingredient is there for a reason, to form a Lovechild so beautiful it will soothe away any pain…

Ingredients:

60ml Tequila

120ml Tomato Juice (I used Smoked Tomato Juice, but you can add 2 drops liquid Smoke)

15ml Lime Juice

1 tbsp Fresh Horseradish, grated (substitute Horseradish Sauce at a push)

1 tsp Tajin Seasoning

4 Dashes Tabasco Sauce

2 Dashes Vegan Worcestershire Sauce

1 Dash Tamari

Small Pinch Celery Salt

Small Pinch Black Pepper

Ice to Shake

Queso Fresco, Chillies, Pickles, Tomatoes, Celery, Lime Wedges & Cucumber to serve

Method:

1. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and coat with the tajin seasoning.

2. Add the remaining ingredients to a Boston shaker and fill with ice.

3. Shake for 30 seconds to combine and chill. Add a few ice cubes to your prepared glass.

4. Strain through a hawthorn strainer into the glass and serve with all the garnishes you can muster.
