Winter Mocha Martini

When I saw @thealchemistuk Hot & Cold espresso Martini, my creativity soared, I needed to use this concept. The juxtaposition of Hot vs Cold, Bitter, and crisp vs sweet & creamy, it’s an absolute party on the palate!

Easy to create, even easier to drink. Best have a batch ready in the freezer for those unexpected duvet days….

Sugar Syrup:

200g Caster Sugar

200ml Water

1 Cinnamon Stick

1tsp Cacao Nibs

1 Strip Orange Peel

1 Clove

1 tsp Coffee Beans

100ml Single Cream

20ml Syrup from above

20ml Vodka

20ml Crème de cacao

20ml Coffee liqueur

1 Shot Espresso

20ml Filtered Water

1. Begin with the sugar syrup. Add the ingredients to a pan and dissolve the sugar over a medium heat. Increase to a boil and coil for 3-5 minutes or until thickened slightly. Allow to cool a little and infuse then strain into a kilner bottle. Once cold this will store in the fridge for months.

2. Add 10ml of this syrup to the cream and mix well. Pour into a small bottle with a lid and freeze on its side in the freezer for 2-3 hours, or until firm.

3. Add the vodka, crème de cacao, coffee liqueur, espresso water and remaining syrup to a small pan. Heat through until hot but not boiling. Pop into a jug.

4. Carefully pour the coffee mixture into the bottle with the cream and watch the magic happen as the flavours mingle. Serve with a straw and friends.
